Care and maintenance of SMEDBO products
SMEDBO bathroom accessories are designed with a focus on quality, durability and long service life. Proper and regular maintenance will help preserve their appearance and functionality for many years.
Always use gentle cleaning methods and avoid aggressive or abrasive cleaning products that may damage the surface finish.
Regular cleaning
For regular cleaning, we recommend using:
- a soft microfibre cloth,
- lukewarm or warm water,
- if necessary, a small amount of mild soap or a gentle pH-neutral cleaner.
After cleaning, wipe or rinse the product with clean water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth. Regular drying helps prevent water marks and limescale deposits.
Cleaning products to avoid
Do not use:
- abrasive cleaning powders or pastes,
- steel wool, scouring pads or rough sponges,
- strongly acidic or alkaline cleaners,
- chlorine-based products,
- aggressive alcohol-based cleaners,
- products that may scratch or chemically damage the surface.
When a cleaning product is required, SMEDBO recommends a mild, non-abrasive cleaner with a pH of approximately 7.5 to 9.5.
Chrome and stainless steel
Clean chrome and stainless steel products regularly with a soft, damp microfibre cloth and dry them afterwards.
For persistent limescale, use only a mild cleaning product suitable for chrome or stainless steel. Test the product first on a small, inconspicuous area.
Black finishes
Clean black surfaces with a soft cloth moistened with warm water and dry thoroughly afterwards.
Do not use abrasive, acidic or alkaline cleaning products, as these may damage or alter the finish.
Brass finishes
Different types of brass finishes require different care.
Polished lacquered brass is protected by a lacquer coating. Do not use metal polish or abrasive products, as these may damage the protective coating.
Unlacquered or matt brass may naturally change appearance over time and develop a patina. This is a natural characteristic of the material.
Soap dispensers
SMEDBO recommends using pH-neutral liquid soap in its soap dispensers.
When changing the type of soap or after a longer period of non-use, rinse the pump and mechanism with warm water. This helps prevent dried soap residue from blocking the mechanism.
Regular care extends product life
Regular gentle cleaning and drying is the best way to keep SMEDBO bathroom accessories in good condition.
Do not allow water, soap or cleaning-product residues to remain and dry on the surface for long periods. For specific products, always also follow any care instructions supplied with the individual product.
